This short video shows how to change the small wax filter on a hearing aid that uses one.

You can pause the video as you go. If you're unsure at any point, our team is here to help.

Is this guide right for you?

  • Your hearing aid has a small removable wax filter
  • Sound has become quieter or blocked
  • You have a replacement wax filter ready to use

This guide may not apply if your hearing aid does not use replaceable wax filters.

Not sure what type of hearing aid or wax filter you have? Contact our team and we'll help you check first.

What the video shows

If you're unable to watch the video, these are the main steps involved:

  1. Remove the old wax filter
  2. Insert a new wax filter using the tool provided
  3. Check that the filter sits flat and secure

Wax filters are designed to be replaced regularly - needing to change one is very common.

If the filter doesn't fit easily, stop and speak to us before continuing.
