Hearing care for all

The theme of this year's World Hearing Day is "Hearing care for all - Screen. Rehabilitate. Communicate." We thought we would highlight how we try to help those with hearing difficulties in these different ways.

Screen

As well as getting a hearing test in your home, did you know we have an online hearing screener- this is great for those that want a quick, discrete way to get a rough idea of how well they are hearing. In the last three months, nearly 1,300 people have gone through the test, with over 70% showing as having 'poor hearing'. If you, your family or friends think you may have an issue with hearing, take the screening test - it's free and only takes a couple of minutes.

Rehabilitate

When you buy hearing aids from us, you get full aftercare all year round, with a dedicated hearing professional services team. Once your hearing aids are fitted, we will call you a few weeks afterwards to see how you are getting on with them and help with any questions you may have. You can now post your hearing aids back to us for a service or repair if needed. We are also working on some support videos this year to help you get the most out of your hearing aid.

Communicate

We aim to help people regain their quality of life - even if they find it challenging to get a high street. We sent letters to all our optical customers in November to make them aware of our home hearing services. We detailed the procedures we have to keep everybody safe and allow people to get back to what they love. It proved very successful - we were able to help people during these difficult times and plan to spread the message about home hearing even further throughout 2021.

This testimonial from a customer's grandchild reminds us why what we do it so important:

"Please pass on our sincere thanks to the audiologist Andrew, who visited my nan yesterday. She was in tears the night before because she could not hear anything and was struggling to communicate with anyone or watch TV. Unfortunately, she is not well enough to take out, and with the added difficulties of the lockdown and the higher risk group that she is in, she was faced with being stuck like this for some time. Thankfully we found this clinic and made an appointment, and Andrew went and spent some time with her yesterday and managed to clean away all of her wax, repair and service her hearing aids and reassured her that everything was ok. The impact that this has had on my grandparents cannot be overstated. This service truly is amazing- thank you all."
