Have you lost your passion for Optometry? Want your weekends back? Do you need a change?

We offer a market leading salary with added bonuses including a fully-expensed company car and no weekends (ever!).

If you are looking for a change of environment from the high street and want more diversity and freedom in your working day, then this is the role for you.

At OutsideClinic, we believe in making a difference to our patients' lives, bringing them the very best in domiciliary eye care. This is why the best Optometrists around the UK choose to work with us.

Working within a defined radius of your home, you will travel between patients conducting 6-7 tests per day, taking on average one hour each. All routes and appointments are booked in advance by our Scheduling team, ensuring that you can concentrate on what you do best.

Domiciliary optics has come a long way in the 35 years that we have been operating and the equipment used today would rival any high street practice. All of our Optometrists have a digital fundus camera, mobile slit lamp, I-Care tonometer and one of our specially developed digital record tablets, called EYEris. Developed internally by our team of Optometrist, you'll be pleased to know that pen and paper records are a thing of the past!

Full clinical support and guidance is provided by our Professional Services team who are just a phone call away. At all times we have at least two Optometrists on hand to discuss any queries and provide guidance to anyone who needs it.

What’s on offer?

You can expect to receive a basic salary of £60,000 per annum and fully-expensed company car, with a host of generous additional benefits.

No Weekend Work along with the option to work 3, 4 or 5 days to fit in with your lifestyle and hobbies.

About you

We are looking for GOC registered Optometrists who are truly passionate about giving patients the best possible experience. The position has a driving element and as such we also require a valid UK driving licence held for at least two years.

If you are looking for a change of environment from the high street or hospital and want more diversity and freedom in your working day, then OutsideClinic may be the perfect place for you!

Taster Experience

How do you know if a job is right for you before you apply?

Especially if it means leaping into a new branch of optometry that you’ve never considered before. We offer a free, no-commitment Taster Experience to see for yourself what 21st Century domiciliary is really like. And when we say ‘experience’ we mean just that.

On the day you will have the opportunity to meet the team, get hands-on with the kit and conduct a home eye test.

Meet the team

Taking place at our head office in Swindon, you will get a chance to meet our fantastic team. From Scheduling to Professional Services, you will gain a much greater understanding of the teams that are here to support our Optometrists on the road. You will have the opportunity to learn more about us from none other than the CEO himself, Damian Kenning. Damian will take you through the history of the company as well as some of the fantastic systems in place that ensure we remain at the forefront of clinical care.

Hands-on with the kit

“I had no idea domiciliary was so advanced. The equipment is incredible.”

You will have the opportunity to see the fantastic mobile equipment that all our Optometrists use. This includes a digital fundus camera, portable slit lamp, I-Care tonometer, and our bespoke EYEris tablet (no more paper!). Designed for Optometrists by Optometrists, the EYEris system has proven itself as an efficient, flexible and brilliant piece of equipment that promotes great quality record keeping, keeps the test patient-focused and gives each Optometrist their individuality.

Conduct a home eye test

Next, you will visit a patient with one of our Professional Services Optometrists. It’s the best way to get a real insight into what it’s like to treat a real patient in their own home, using the home environment to your advantage. You can appreciate the enormous difference you will make to people’s lives, and you will experience their gratitude for your help.

Upon returning it will be time for us to find out more about you, your hopes, and goals for your career. There is no commitment on your part, but if you like what you see and think this could be your next career move, then we can provide you with contract options that work for you. Our Taster Experience days last around four hours and can be tailored to you. If there is a specific aspect you would like to know more about then we can incorporate that into your day with us.

So, how do you book your Taster Experience? Simply call us on 01793 648 602, and we can put a date in the diary. There is nothing to prepare for apart from bringing in your driving licence, passport, ophthalmoscope and retinoscope, along with an open mind. “I also can’t talk about domiciliary work and why I love it without talking about the weekends. The difference this makes to my life goes beyond compare."
